Lust List 2013

Long time No write! Its been a hectic couple of months so I havent really had much time to write. Anywho...

Every new year beauty brands start to launch new products. Meaning I have a bunch of new products to obsess over (like I need more). But being a young wife and mother, not to mention full time student, I dont exactly have a lot of disposable income to use on a new lipstick (or foundation, or powder, or...). You get my point. So I have created my

      LUST LIST OF 2013

Mac Prep + Prime Beauty Balm

Maccosmetics.com says
"Face prepping and priming in a solid cream formula that perfects, protects, illuminates and evens out complexion for flawless results."

Price: $30
Shades: Extra Light, Light, and Light Plus

Now I dont know if I would ever spend this much on a beauty balm, but something about it draws me in. I would like to see the coverage of this BB cream and if it really lives up to its claims.

NYX Cosmetics Makeup Setting Spray
Nyxcosmetics.com says:
"Demand Perfection! For that fresh make up look that lasts, NYX Makeup Setting Sprays are lightweight and comfortable while working hard to make sure your makeup stays put. Available in a gorgeous Matte Shine-Free Finish or Dewy fresh glow."
Price: $8.00
Finishes: Matte and Dewy

I love that this setting spray comes in to different finishes. Its great for not only different skin types, but sometimes its just nice to have options.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Stay-on Shadow Paint
Esteelauder.com says:
"Creamy shimmer shadow.Smoky to wildly intense.New colors. New finishes. New ways to express your eyes."
Price: $24.00

Im a huge fan of any potted cream shadow, so naturally I want to try these. Ive seen swatches of these, and baby these things are pigmented!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm
Urbandecay.com says:
"Minimize pores, lines, wrinkles and redness instantly. Get significantly firmer, more lifted skin in 8 weeks."
Price: $34.00

Im a sucker for beauty balm and Im always curious to see if they live up to the claims. I have huge pores so it would be nice to find one that actually reduce pore size. Hey, a girl can dream, right?

Loreal True Match Super Blendable Crayon Concealer

Price: $8.95

Concealers are necessary for me due to horrible undereye circles, so when a new one comes out, im all over it. Ive seen this thing in action and it gives great coverage and a beautiful finish.

NYX Collection (EXTREMELY Pic Heavy)

NYX Cosmetics is by far my favorite cosmetic brand. If I wasn't a makeup blogger, and my curiosity for other brands didn't exist, NYX would be the only brand I use. I have only found 2 things from this brand that I didn't like. My collection is not huge, and is still growing, but I wanted to show yall what I had and some swatches of the products. Before I start showing the pictures, I wanted to say that this post will be very pic heavy. So without further ado, here is my collection.

EYESHADOWS

I have 2 of the ten color eye shadow pallets from the Runway Collection. These pallets are amazing. The shadows are so creamy and the color payoff is very nice. I think NYX excels in their pallets and trios.
The first one is the Caviar and Bubbles ten shadow pallet. This is a completely neutral pallet. All the shadows are shimmery and have great color payoff. I LOVE this pallet.
The next one is the Bohemian Rhapsody pallete. This another great neutral pallet. The top row is all shimmer while the bottom is all matte. It is really great to incorprate matte shadows into your collection as they are great for defining as well as being great for mature eyes. I was a little disappointed with the black shade (bottom row, far right). When looking at it, you think it will be very dark, but it really comes off as more of a charcoal grey.
The next two products are the trios. These trios are incredible. They are so soft and creamy and the pigmentation is out of this world. The one pictured above is the Gold/Rust/Walnut Bronze trio. These shades are gorgeous. The center shade (Rust) is a beautiful truly rust color.
This trio is named Shangrila. When I look at this pallet I think of summertime in the Caribbean. The yellow, orange, and peachy pink makes a really fun eye. Again, these are creamy and very pigmented.
(Left-Right...Charcoal Brown, My Favorite Color, Champagne, True Taupe, and Hot Orange)

These are the NYX single shadows. These are not as creamy and pigmented as the ones in the pallet but for the most part they are good. The second and the orange shade are very disappointing. In the pan, they are very hard and they have actual chunks of glitter in them. They come of very patchy and it is near impossible to get a pigmented smooth swatch out of these. The other three are just as good as the pallet shades.

Face Products

This is the Stay Matte Not Flat powder foundation. This is my favorite setting powder. On my skin, the coverage of this foundation is not enough on its own. But when I use it as a setting powder over other foundation that are lacking in coverage, it gives an amazing finish. My shade is in Soft Beige. They have a great selection of shades for the foundation. I am usually the lightest shade in all foundations, but there were actually about 3 shades lighter than the one that suited my color. This is great for those gals that have problems finding a shade to match them.

Notice the Bunny on the bottom. This signifies that NYX does not test on animals.

This blusher/bronzer combo is extremely glittery. Its not very chunky but the glitter is noticeable. The bronzer almost has a pink undertone so I will sometimes just use it as a blush. It is far to glittery to be used as a bronzer all over the face.
This is the best swatch I could get of the Powder and Blush/Bronzer. The powder is on the far left and it matches my skin so well that you can't actually see it.
Eye Bases and Eyeliners
The eyeshadow base on the far left is my holy grail eye product. This keeps my shadows completely crease free all day.

Left-Right...Brown, Seafoam Green, and Black
These are the NYX eyeliner pencils. I LOVE these. They are so smooth and creamy. Sometimes with pencils they tug at the eyes, but I don't have that problem with these. The black one is so pigmented and this is basically the only black eyeliner I use, and I use it everyday.
Left-Right...Jumbo eye pencil in Yogurt and Cream eyeshadow in Musk

The jumbo pencils are known as exceptional bases. They have a large variety of colors and are priced just right. The cream shadows are wonderful and they do not budge once they are dry.
Lipstick: Narcissus
Lipliner: Rose

The round lipstick are great. They are very moisturizing and have decent wear time. The lipstick pictured about is Narcissus and is a serious barbie pink. Very bright!! The lip liner is very smooth as well. This is a very muted rose color and beautiful alone or with a lip gloss layered on it.

There is my NYX collection. I feel that the quality of NYX products are that of a high end brand, while the price is just right. Have you tried NYX before? If you have let me know what your favorite products are.

Favorite Inexpensive Nail Polishes

I just recently started painting my nails. When I was in school, I was a competitive horseback rider, so my nails took a beating. I never took the time to paint them because it would just be messed up later. Now that I dont ride anymore (*sigh*), I paint my nails when I have a chance. I have a three year old so this is few and far between, but I have found a few great inexpensive brands. Sinful Colors, Wet and Wild, Spoiled by Wet and Wild, and LA colors are AMAZING!!! I can not justify paying almost $10 for a nail polish and these brands range from 99 cents to $2.00.  These are great, especially if you are on a budget.

I am going to show yall my favorite shades from these brands. Now I don't have swatches of my own, but I will link in some swatches. So here we go...

1) My ALL TIME FAV color is Sinful Colors Easy Going.

This is a beautiful LIGHT pink. This is a essential for all nail polish collections. It is perfect if your not into bright colors, or you work a job where bright color is not acceptable. It is so smooth and creamy, and completely opaque in two coats.

2) Wet and Wild Sparkled is a gorgeous sparkly shade. A completely opaque sparkle shade is hard to find, but this is completely opaque in 3 coats, which seems like a lot but it is a gorgeous shade.

3) Sinful Colors Let Me Go is a beautiful duo chrome polish. The shade is stunning in the bottle. It has shades of green and purple. When applied it comes off sheer but is very buildable. I became opaque for me in 3 coats.

4) Sinful Colors in Island Coral is a stunning coral shade. Corals are very in for the season and this is a perfect coral shade. This is a a cream polish and is almost opaque in one coat. I still apply 2 to make it completely opaque

5) Spoiled by Wet and Wild in Toad-ally Amazing is a really fun minty tealish shade. This is such a awesome summer shade. It has a hint of sparkle in it and has a great texture. This shade is opaque in 2 coats. LOVE this color.

6) LA colors in Mega Watt. I am not a huge LA colors fan. There makeup is horrible but their nail polishes are pretty good. They also make the oh-so-famous art deco stripers. Mega Watt is a very sheer, nude color. If you want a very opaque colors you will need about 4 coats. For some reason I love this shade even though it is extremely sheer. It just adds a gorgeous sheen to your nails.

7) Wet and Wild in Wet Cement is a very dark shade. Im not usually into extremely dark shades, but this one is just very pretty. It really reminds me of the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe, but in nail polish form. If you love dark taupe shades, this is for you.

8) NYC Matte Me Crazy Mattifying Top Coat. No this is not a polish shade per se, but occasionally I am in the mood for a matte nail color. So colors are beautiful when matte as well. Now this swatch is over some random black color. I have no idea what it is, but I wanted to show how this top coat works.

So there y'all have it. These are my favorite inexpensive nail polish shades. Let me know yall's favorite shades. I would love to check them out!!

NYX mini haul!!

So I have been on the hunt for NYX Narcissus round lipstick for months. My ulta has never had it in stock and I really don't like ordering off line (mainly because I hate paying the shipping price when I can buy it in stores). I FINALLY found it a few days ago. Well NYX was having a BOGO 50% off and I just could not pass it up. So here is what I got.

I am in love with this NYX Stay Matte, Not Flat powder foundation. I have never used a powder foundation, but have heard great things about it so I thought i would give it a go. When used alone, it has very minimal coverage. Its great if you're having a "I don't want to wear makeup, but if I don't wear something ill scare people" day. But I like to use this as an everyday thing, so I layer it over my Garnier BB Cream, and it has an amazing finish!!
Shade: Soft Beige
Price: $10

This is the NYX Bronzer and Blusher combo. I actually picked up the wrongs shade in this. I want Marabella (shown above) and I picked up Phi Phi Island. Phi Phi Island is very pretty but Marabella is matte and thats what I wanted. Ulta does allow returns, so Im going to return it soon. I cant tell you if it works well on the skin, but I did want to mention it in this haul.
Shade: Marabella
Price: $9

I have FINALLY found it. This is NYX round lipstick in Narcissus. It is a gorgeous barbie pink. It is very bright, so if bright colors scare you, this is not for you. The texture is so smooth and creamy. I will definitely be buying more in these in the future.
Shade: Narcissus
Price: $4

My first lip liner ever. I know, I know its kinda crazy. Ive seen many videos where people actually use the liner as the lip color itself, with some clear gloss. The name is spot on, as this is a very good rose color! The texture was great for a pencil. Sometimes pencils can be very harsh and this was very creamy and soft.
Shade: Rose
Price: $3.50

NYX is an amazing brand. The prices are awesome, but the quality is that of a high end brand. If you haven't already tried this brand, do yourself a favor and go do it now!!!

Kony 2012

Just a quick little blog that has absolutely nothing to do with makeup, but is way more important anyway.

A man names Joseph Kony has been kidnapping children in Uganda for 20 years, and are making them fight in the LRA. These are young children who are taken from their homes and parents, and are made to fight and kill their parents. The boys fight, and the girls are made to be sex slaves. This organization called  the Invisible Children Foundation is trying to bring awareness to the situation and get this horrible man out of Uganda. He must be stopped. There is a 30 minute documentary on youtube that explains it ALOT better than I do. Please watch it and help to put the reign of this horrible man to an end.

Maybe its Maybelline!

So I have always loved Maybelline face products. I dont know why, but the formulation has always worked really well with my skin. I have dry/combo skin, so maybe thats why. But I wanted to talk about some of my current favs from Maybelline! (These are not that new, but I wanted to try them out for a while before I told yall if I liked them or not)

So I have been looking for a good concealer for FOREVER!!! I have horrible undereye circles that I inherited (thanks mom).  I know you are supposed to use a concealer with more of a peachy tone, but this one works great. It is illuminating so it conceals while it gives a nice glow. It really brightens up any dark places on the face, and it gives you a beautiful glow. You use it like a pen, which is really nice. It has a brush applicator, so its really easy to use.

Product: Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer
Shade: Ivory (#320)
Price: $6.44 (Walmart)

AMAZING foundation!! The texture is just out of this world and extremely lightweight. It comes out as a foam and is just really cool. You dont need a lot of it, which is nice. This works well with dry/combo skin, but im not sure it would be good for oily skin. I think it would just slide off, but I cant tell you for sure since I have never had that experience. I say its a medium/full coverage, and I use a stippiling brush to apply. Gives a great, airbrushed look!

Product: Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation
Shade: Classic Ivory #150 (although I think I could have used Porcelain Ivory, but I can work with it)
Price: $8.44 (Walmart)

I love the Dream Bouncy Blushes. They are very lightweight and have a really cool texture. They are a cream blush that has a pretty shear look. I know a lot of people have said that they dont like them, but I think they are pretty good.  I actually like shear blushes, so Im happy.

Product: Dream Bouncy Blush
Shade: Peach Satin (#20)
Price: $6.44 (Walmart)

So there you have it. My current favorite Maybelline products. Try them out, and let me know what you think!

P.S. I have a videos featuring the Dream Nude Airfoam. Check it out!!!

Horrible Chaped Lips!!!!

Do your lips look like this???

If so Im soooo sorry. And I feel your pain. I was so tired of having horrible chapped lips that I had to find something to use to make them un-chapped. I looked all over the place for a good lip scrub. I found some at lush.com but I hate ordering off the internet because of the ridiculous shipping cost. And then I found it. The Victorias Secret Lip Scrub and Balm!!!

It is a really great sugar scrub that smells delicious. And the balm is colorless balm that locks in the moisture to keep your lips looking extra kissable. It also has a cool tingly effect! Try it out. It worked for me. Hopefully it will for you to <3
